Real-Time Prediction of Vehicle Locations in a Connected-Vehicle Environment

From TRB’s Research in Progress Database

Wireless communication between vehicles and the transportation infrastructure, known as the “connected-vehicle environment,” has the potential to greatly improve safety and mobility. However, the rollout of such technologies in passenger vehicles is likely to take 30 years or more, during which time traffic will be a mix of equipped and unequipped vehicles. The purpose of this study is to develop algorithms that analyze the behavior of equipped vehicles and look for unusual driver behavior.
