SMART is delighted to host Larry Yermack for a Distinguished Speaker Series Lecture on "ITS for MultiModal Transport”. Please find the lecture abstract listed below.

He was the founder of the E-ZPass Interagency Group and has served as First Deputy Transportation Commissioner of New York City for Ed Koch as well as CFO of the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority. He led a toll systems consulting practice at Parsons Brinckerhoff as well as an ITS Systems Integration company. Today he serves as a strategic advisor to Cubic Transportation Systems
Lecture Abstract:
We have spent decades on the front end of systems, little realizing how powerful a management tool the payment system could be. The lecture will discuss manual payments, the onset of E-ZPass and the implications from that system. Then the conversation will pivot to multi-modal payments and the potential of todays payment/processing engines and how this will influence the way we move in the integrated multimodal transportation systems of the future.
