Keeping Soldiers Safe!
August 28, 2017
UMTRI’s Biosciences group is part of a large team of University and Army researchers working to develop a new test dummy specifically for ensuring soldier safety in underbody blast events. UMTRI’s role has included developing the dimensional specifications for the dummy and conducting biomechanics testing to understand human response and tolerance in high-rate vertical accelerations. The UMTRI team is currently testing the first-generation prototype of the Warrior Injury Assessment Manikin (WIAMan) to evaluate its response.
