Profile Photo

Lauren Wood Zaseck is an assistant research scientist in UMTRI's the Biosciences Group. She joined UMTRI in 2014 after completing her PhD in biomedical engineering at the University of Michigan. She also holds an MSE in biomedical engineering from Michigan, and a bachelor of biomedical engineering from the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Zaseck’s research interests focus on characterizing the biomechanical response and injury tolerance of the human body to impact loading. She is also interested in characterizing the mechanical properties of organs and tissues to aid in the development of human computational models that can be used to predict the severity of crash-related injuries and optimize restraint systems. She is especially interested in improving injury outcomes for vulnerable populations, including pregnant women, children, and older occupants.
