Research Interests/Areas of Expertise

Mr. Shen's research interests focus on traffic simulation, traffic signal control, and cyber-physical transportation systems, including connected vehicle (CV) applications, and connected and automated vehicles (CAV) testing and evaluation. He has a rich working experience in developing traffic simulations (e.g., Augmented Reality CAV testing environment at Mcity and Virtual Reality environment in Corktown, Detroit). He has developed CV applications in several large-scale CV deployment projects including Safety Pilot Model Deployment (SPMD) and Ann Arbor Connected Vehicle Testing Environment (AACVTE). He has also been involved in many research projects funded by public agencies such as USDOT, USDOE and provide companies such as Crash Avoidance Metric Partnership (CAMP), and Ford Motor Company.
